At the time of writing this article (07/21/2023), the most popular and easiest way to transfer funds from the Russian Federation to Georgia - Unistream / Unistream fell under US sanctions and was disconnected by all Georgian banks.

We decided to conduct an experiment and make a payment together with a client through the Zolotaya Korona system from the Russian Federation to Georgia and thus answer the question "How to transfer money through Zolotaya Korona from the Russian Federation to Georgia?"

Due to sanctions, Zolotaya Korona does not accept the most common cards - Sberbank, Tinkoff, VTB. You have to use little-known QIWI bank, Ozon bank, Yandex bank. The advantage of these neo-banks (or online banks) is that you can open an account and a physical or virtual one (enough for a transfer from Russia to Georgia) online.

For our example, we choose QIWI and the problem of transferring 1000 lari from Russia to Georgia. Let me remind you that we want to make a transfer using "Golden Crown" from Russia to Georgia.

The account and card in QIWI are opened instantly and online. In order to increase the amount of permissible amounts, verification may be required (you need a passport and / or an account on Gosuslugi). To open an account and a card, you need a Russian mobile number. If you don't have a Russian number, you can also open it online in the Tinkoff, Megafon, MTS app and receive an SMS there if necessary if you don't have a phone with eSIM.

So, for the experiment we use Tinkoff mobile and the Tinkoff app.

We receive an SMS for opening an account in QIWI Bank in the app. We verify in QIWI bank through State Services.

In the "QIWI cards" section, we open a virtual card.

Then, if desired, you can either link your current card "under sanctions" (Sberbank, Tinkoff, VTB, etc.) to the account or top up your QIWI bank account. Select "top up".

We top up the account by 36,100 rubles, because Zolotaya Korona calculates the rate for us at 35980 (the official rate is 35360 for 1000 lari at the time of writing) plus 99 rubles for the transfer.

Download the Zolotaya Korona application.

Fill in the recipient and sender details. If you are sending to yourself ("Zolotaya Korona" from the Russian Federation to Georgia), then in the Russian part write your full name in Cyrillic and indicate your Russian phone number, and in the Georgian part - in Latin and indicate your Georgian phone number.

Add the card from which you need to make a write-off. In our case, this is a QIWI bank card. It will not be possible to add a card from a "sanctioned" bank - an error occurs already on the first digits of the card.

Click the red button "Make a transfer".

Confirm the payment via SMS from QIWI bank payment.

Part one - "send a "Golden Crown" transfer from the Russian Federation to Georgia" is complete.

Let's move on to part two - how to receive a "Golden Crown" transfer in Georgia?

Go to the Georgian bank application. In this case, we use the TBS bank application. Select "receive a transfer" in the application. From the list of payment systems, select "Zolotaya korona". Dial the Georgian phone number. An SMS arrives and enter the SMS as confirmation of entry into your personal account.

The "personal account" displays current and already completed transfers. In our case, there is only one transfer, because this is a new account.

Mark the transfer and select "receive".

A message in English appears that the transaction will be processed and after processing you can receive the transfer.

In the applications of other banks in a similar case, a choice may appear on which card/account the transfer should be credited to.

After 2-3 minutes, TBC Bank sends a confirmation of the transfer and a short link to the agreement that you must agree to receive the transfer.

Follow the link, tick the box that you agree and click on the blue ("agree") button.

The text of the bank's agreement with the user is only in Georgian without the possibility of translation.

After processing the consent to the user agreement (almost instantly), an SMS notification comes about the crediting of money to the account.
