Electric vehicle imports to Georgia continue to grow steadily. In the first 11 months of 2025, 7,308 electric vehicles were imported into the country, which is 60 % more than in the same period last year.

The total value of imports reached $91.3 million, demonstrating a 41 % increase. The increase in the number of electric vehicles on Georgia’s roads is already noticeable to the naked eye, especially Tesla models, as well as Chinese BYD models, which are actively used, including in the Yandex Go service.

The average cost of electric vehicles has decreased

According to data from the State Statistics Service of Georgia, the average price of an imported electric vehicle in 2025 was approximately $15,500, which is 12 % lower than the previous year.

The main reason for the decline was the global drop in prices for used electric vehicles, especially in the US and Japanese markets, which traditionally account for a significant portion of supplies.

Main countries exporting electric vehicles to Georgia

In the first 11 months of 2025, electric vehicles were mainly imported to Georgia from the following countries:

  • United States — 5,172 vehicles worth $75.5 million.
    Average price: $14,600.
  • China — 1,058 vehicles worth $23 million.

  • Belgium — 65 cars worth $2.8 million.

The United States continues to account for the largest volume, while Germany and Belgium form the segment of more expensive, premium electric vehicles.

Re‐exports of electric vehicles from Georgia are also growing

Georgia continues to serve as a regional hub not only for imports but also for re‐exports of electric vehicles.

In the first 11 months of 2025, 1,399 electric vehicles were re‐exported for a total of $33.7 million, which is 58 % more than a year earlier.

The main destinations for re‐exports were:

  • Kyrgyzstan — 366 vehicles worth $10.4 million;
  • Kazakhstan — 438 vehicles worth $10 million;
  • Armenia — 244 vehicles worth $7 million.

Why Georgia remains attractive for the electric vehicle market

The growth in imports and re-exports can be explained by several factors:

  • favorable customs and tax regime,
  • the country’s geographical location,
  • simplified procedures for registering and reselling cars,
  • stable demand from neighboring markets.
